If Love had existed only in itself, but did not create the world,
that would have been enough.
If He only creates the world, but does not create us in his image,
that would have been enough.
If He only created us in His image, but did not remain faithful to us despite our sins,
that would have been enough.
If He remains faithful to us despite our sins, but does not speak to us through the burning bush or through the beauty of all creation,
that would have been enough.
If from the burning bush only speaks to us but does not choose us to be its people,
that would have been enough.
If He don't choose us to be your people, just bringing us into the land of Israel would have been enough.
If He brings us to the land of Israel, but does not build the temple for us,
that would have been enough.
If He only builds the temple but does not send the Messiah,
that would have been enough.
If He sends the Messiah, but does not incarnate Him so that the Son lives on Earth as a human,
that would have been enough.
If He merely incarnates and lives as a human on Earth, but does not gather disciples around him,
that alone would have been enough.
If He only gathers disciples around him, but does not choose the apostles,
that would have been enough.
If He only chooses the apostles but does not proclaim the Kingdom of God,
that alone would have been enough.
If He only proclaims the Kingdom of God, but does not give us the bread and wine at the Last Supper,
that would have been enough.
If He only gives us the bread and the wine, but does not die for us on the cross,
that would have been enough.
If He only dies for us on the cross, but does not rise on the third day,
that would have been enough.
If He only rises on the third day, but does not appear to Mary Magdalene in the garden,
that would have been enough.
If He had only appeared in the garden to Mary Magdalene, but did not teach the apostles after the resurrection, that would have been enough.
If He teaches the apostles even after the resurrection, but does not send the Holy Spirit,
that would have been enough.
If He only sends the Holy Spirit, but the Spirit does not give Peter the courage to preach,
that would have been enough.
If the Holy Spirit only gives Peter courage, but does not travel the whole world with the apostles,
that would have been enough.
If He only travels the whole world with the apostles, but does not build the communities of the Church from living stones,
that would have been enough.
If He only builds up the Church's communities, but does not renew us,
that would have been enough.
If He only renews us, but does not give us a companion for our entire lives,
that would have been enough.
If He only gives us a partner, but does not bless our marriage with children,
that would have been enough.
If He blesses us with children, but does not give us a home and a mission in the world,
that would have been enough.
If He only gives us a home and a mission in the world, but does not grant us eternal life,
that would have been enough.
If He only grants us eternal life, but does not promise the coming Kingdom of God,
that would have been enough.
But He promises the Kingdom of God, where we will be forever freed from the pain of our sins, and together we will glorify Him with our loved ones and all His people. His reign surpasses all our imagination, and that is enough for us. Amen.
